our Lore
We wanted to say hi to introduce ourselves (and our love story) since a few of our guests haven’t met us as a couple yet. Zack was born and raised in San Francisco & it shows – I love the way this beautiful and easygoing city, along with his upbringing, have shaped him into the best person I’ve met so far. We each came with our own huge friend family groups that go way back & roll ridiculously deep, shoutout to y’all. Zack is a total jock and really smart too, consistently considerate, slightly reserved, the chillest person you’ll ever meet. He is a real gentle giant, but has a daily urge to submerge himself into one of our country’s deadliest surf spots, AKA Ocean Beach.
We have a shared beach fixation, so even though OB’s great white shark infested waters scare me 1000x less than her riptides do, I’m still really happy we moved just a few blocks away from the beach. We’re so sandy but our dogs love life & Zack rarely has to miss the good surf windows. I’m from Texas, but have lived in San Francisco for 8 years now, after following my sister out here and quickly realizing that I’d never leave. I identify as a nerdy bimbo with a noisy personality, short temper, a deep sentimentality, and an aggressive brand of loyalty. Zack’s friends would call me the gas, and him the brakes. We are way more different than we are the same, so sharing our lives (and our respective innermost personhoods) with each other has been such a fun and hectic endeavor.
We found each other in SF’s Hinge hellscape, of all places – this discovery itself, a singularly blessed miracle. We’d started getting to know each other over the phone, but Zack was on a Hawaii surf trip with Kyle. So when I saw that the Kilauea volcano was set to erupt for the first time in years, I messaged Zack to tell him this. I warned him that he needed to watch his head and in response, he hard ghosted me for like 4 months. He later popped back in, shamelessly talking about some fizzle between us, which annoyed me principally since it was not a fizzle, but a ghost. But I was curious enough about him to meet up.
On a lucky Tuesday we went to a surfer dive bar near Ocean Beach called Pitts Pub to hang after work, where Zack enjoyed a Manhattan and I ordered a hurricane- the trashiest, most liquor-heavy tiki drink I was able to locate on the menu. We basically both fell in love on site, holding hands, talking all night, etc. We were absurdly inseparable after meeting, and obviously here we still are. We still miss each other whenever I have to go and do my extra long shower. And linger around in doorways to keep talking for 5 more mins when it’s time to part ways. As an adorable side note, Kilauea has been exploding basically nonstop ever since I notified Zack of its eruption and he blew me off. We have a cute artist’s rendition of it framed in our apartment that we found on a trip to Hawaii; it’s a little inside joke to symbolize when he almost fumbled his one true love.
I’ve never wanted to have a wedding a day (or a pinterest board) in my life, but to my own surprise, I’d already plummeted pretty deep into bridal pinterest long before being engaged. My two doggies fell in love with Zack even faster than I did, but we got engaged pretty quickly too, after knowing each other for a little over a year. Now it’s been a couple years since then, and after the fates handed us some unexpected plot twists, we found out that the admiration and understanding we have for each other seem to keep on pushing their roots ever deeper. I’m really proud of the foundation we’ve worked on together, and I never thought I’d be dying to make it official with the US government, but here I am! We are so excited to do this with all of our most sentimentally loved ones, before we set our sights down the line toward our shared future.
