If you didn’t know, burritos as we know & love them today originated in the early 60’s in San Francisco’s Mission District, so this is actually a great opportunity for you to experience them. Perhaps you even become a little tipsy at our wedding and meander into one of the nearby mission burrito spots. I don’t understand how or why exactly, but every burrito that’s not from SF is not as good.

  • Taqueria El Buen Sabor - bron’s favorite SF burrito

  • Guadalajara - Zack’s favorite SF burrito

  • El Farolito - SF’s favorite SF burrito (the OG) (open very late!)

  • Leo’s Taco Truck - al pastor taco is beloved

  • La Taqueria - Zack’s favorite taco (long lines though :/ )

  • Underdogs tacos (any location) - tasty casual tacos, less busy than La Taq, if you get ur taco “nick’s way,” it is sure to be the most indulgent taco you will ever experience

  • The Little Chihuahua - honorable mention burrito, but only if you need a gluten free tortilla TBH but it’s really good

Kinda the golden rule for anyone out of town to keep in top of mind-

There is no neighborhood in SF where you should leave anything at all in your car visible through the windows.

Unless u wanna end up like the bip lebowski :(

Street smarts

Drivers pls be extra watchful!! Pedestrians, bicyclists, skaters, e-scooterers (sp?) have the right of way here, and will use it.

Don’t forget to bring layers! It gets seriously cold when the sun goes down. Light sweaters, puffers, wool, leather coats, they’re all probs potentially useful.

It’s the new music/entertainment venue from Arcana, very cool and locally very beloved dj/event space/natural wine & plant purveyor in the mission district. I’m not flexing our venue I just do love them.

  • Arcana <3

  • Pitt’s Pub

  • El Rio is a deeply beloved/sacred queer space with an unusually large patio

  • Bar Part Time

  • Buena Vista - this is the place that brought irish coffee to the states in 1953. Sooo yummy and very worth the crowds. Plus all the wharf-touristy fun to be had nearby. Side note, you can ask for the Irish coffee to-go and get a head start on your wharf stroll; it's 15 min to the smelly seal friends at Pier 39.

  • Comstock Saloon - cozy North Beach bar, feels super ancient, because it is

  • Vesuvio’s - iconic North Beach bar/beatnik literary hub from the 60s, right across from City Lights Books; this has been a longstanding flow for the past like 80 years

  • Bao Bao Lounge - tiniest and most anything goes karaoke spot in SF…I once was overserved here at Zack’s company holiday party, and performed Scars by Papa Roach thrice in one night. They really let anybody in there

  • Li Po Lounge - notorious, strong Mai Tais (which also originated in the Bay Area, shout out to Oakland)

  • Green Apple Books (any location) - we love her. SF’s pride & joy bookstore, with lots of miscellaneous treasures

  • City Lights Bookstore - Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s North Beach beat lit haven, since 1953… I’d been pining  to visit this place ever since I was a McSweeney’s-obsessed high schooler in Texas. After moving here, I was really relieved to discover this building still contains the same magic 💫

  • Amoeba Records - you know her you love her

  • Woot Bear - tiny Haight st shop, filled with tiny action figures and collectible toys pretty much entirely from Japan. She’s so cute

  • Tantrum - fun kids store

  • Rare Device - gift shop

  • Paxton Gate - taxidermy and oddities in the Mission

Shops

posted 10 days ago with 415 notes via zachary&bronwyn

  • Battery Spencer - best golden gate bridge photo op

  • Cable Car Museum

  • Legion of Honor Museum - magical Rodin displays are found here

  • Meander Haight Street’s zillion vintage and tibetan shops. GGP is nearby too

  • Golden Gate Park - Japanese Tea Garden, Strawberry Hill, Stow Lake, Hippie Hill, DeYoung Museum, Cal Academy of Sciences, Conservatory of Flowers!! I could go on forever

  • Visit the parrots at Telegraph Hill :)

  • Dolores Park - the Mission District’s grassy hub, the sun shines on the Mission District the most… picnics go harder here, so bring a blankie and speaker, will probably see fun park vendors selling weird stuff,  you always see like 12 truly wild sights here too

  • Crissy Field is the most accessible beach, also the windiest. In the Marina, which can be cute if you like sailboats. Lots of parking; the lot is right in front of the beach

  • Baker Beach is Bron’s favorite (typically the sunniest) but if you walk too far East, you’re on a nude beach fyi. China Beach comes in close second, but the stairs for beach access can be a real B word

  • Ocean Beach is Zack’s favorite I think because it reminds him of surfing

  • Fort Funston - dog-filled beach, super windy cliffs, there’s a swing somewhere

  • Lands End to Sutro Baths - classic cliffside stroll, but the baths are potentially haunted

  • Twin Peaks - car commercial mecca of the world with city views, watch out for all the skaters/hillbombers tho. Oh and don’t leave any stuff in your car there because you’ll get instantly bipped

  • Point Reyes - a little roadtrip will bring you to extreme coastal wilderness and beautiful seacliff hikes. Usually will spot a wild creature or two, always some smelly seals, and could see some whales in October if you’re lucky!!!

  • Muir Woods - closest redwood spot🔌

  • Ferry Building Farmers Market-  on Saturdays, so huge and right on the wharf. But our favorite farmer’s market is on Sundays, on 4th and Clement St

Since the venue itself is brand new, it’s not really established or searchable online. So that’s the reason our venue is coming off like it’s a speakeasy. It’s the new music/entertainment venue from Arcana, very cool and locally very beloved dj/event space/natural wine & plant purveyor in the mission district. I’m not flexing our venue I just do love them.

You won’t find much about the space online, but it does exist at the address we’ve provided.

And if it clears up any confusion, it did use to be a Chase bank. And I did do my banking in there, back when I first moved to the mission with Ife. Awww ●‿●

Accessibility

Everyone should consider the hills when planning walking routes. You can always check the topographical map when mapping routes.

Uber/Lyft both have WAV (wheelchair-accessible vehicle) request options in SF if anyone needs it.

Sidewalks should be accessible in the Mission District, but they can be uneven, crowded, and spotty... just a heads up for anyone planning their commute with a mobility device.

There is a curb cut near both the venue’s entry points, by the doors on both the North and East sides of the building’s corner

posted 2 days ago with 415 notes via zachary&bronwyn

Kinda the golden rule for anyone out of town to keep in top of mind-

There is no neighborhood in SF where you should leave anything at all in your car visible through the windows.

Unless u wanna end up like the bip lebowski :(

Street smarts

Drivers pls be extra watchful!! Pedestrians, bicyclists, skaters, e-scooterers (sp?) have the right of way here, and will use it.

Don’t forget to bring layers! It gets seriously cold when the sun goes down. Light sweaters, puffers, wool, leather coats, they’re all probs potentially useful.

posted 2 days ago with 415 notes via zachary&bronwyn

Since the venue itself is brand new, it’s not really established or searchable online. So that’s the reason our venue is coming off like it’s a speakeasy. It’s the new music/entertainment venue from Arcana, very cool and locally very beloved dj/event space/natural wine & plant purveyor in the mission district. I’m not flexing our venue I just do love them.

You won’t find much about the space online, but it does exist at the address we’ve provided.

And if it clears up any confusion, it did use to be a Chase bank. And I did do my banking in there, back when I first moved to the mission with Ife. Awww ●‿●

Kinda the golden rule for anyone out of town to keep in top of mind-

There is no neighborhood in SF where you should leave anything at all in your car visible through the windows.

Since the venue itself is brand new, it’s not really established or searchable online. So that’s the reason our venue is coming off like it’s a speakeasy.

Awww ●‿●

We ❤ SF so much!! Every day I feel lucky to be part of such a beautiful, deeply silly, and loving city. October is wedding season in the Bay because that’s when our summer weather rolls in. So we hope y’all out of towners get some uncloudy days and enough time to properly enjoy this place.

Our faves

  • Flour and Water Pizzeria - extra special (best GF pizza in SF)

  • Square Pie Guys - detroit style pizza, the GF one is amazing

  • Golden Boy Pizza - North Beach pizza spot with a big line because she’s so delicious

Brunch

  • Arsicault is known for yummy croissants & the longest lines ever. Soo flaky, your blouse will never be the same

  • Tartine - if you’re into fancy bread. Sourdough also originated from San Francisco gold rush :)

  • Boudin Bakery - more fancy bread

  • Mitchells Ice Cream

  • San Francisco’s Hometown Creamery - mango sticky rice ice cream 😲

  • Bob’s Donuts

  • Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory - another thing that San Francisco brought to America 🙂‍↕️ actually introduced at the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park

Snacks

Bars

posted 10 days ago with 415 notes via zachary&bronwyn
